Internet Broadcasting Made Easy

December 9, 1999 at Streaming Media West '99

In the Internet age nothing communicates better then the spoken word. Developing this idea, Trio Systems LLC of Pasadena, California introduced this week their Panagram.com website, an exciting new way to broadcast on the Net.

Panagram.com simplifies the complex process of creating RealAudio streams. No need to learn technical software designed for recording engineers. The Panagram.com website can record voice broadcasts using your browser. Click the record button and talk into a microphone attached to your computer. Your recording is automatically converted into a RealAudio clip, uploaded to the Panagram.com server and made available to everyone on the Internet. The whole process takes about a minute to complete.

Non-technical users now become empowered by broadcasting web content themselves. In fact, with Panagram.com you don't need a website to broadcast on the Net. Make a recording and send the link to a mailing list. Or post the link on Usenet.

Panagram.com builds on Trio's SoniClear RealAudio production tool. SoniClear compresses and filters the sound in much the same way that radio stations do. The result is a surprisingly loud and clear sound on any computer. By installing the special "plugin" version of SoniClear, your browser is enabled to make recordings.

Trio Systems plans to launch Panagram.com later this month. Details about the pricing will be announced at that time. Trio indicated that non-commercial users will be able to use the site for free (with a limited number of clips and limited streaming time). Commercial users of the system will be able to lease space and bandwidth usage on the Panagram.com servers, much like conventional web hosting services.
